Loosen compacted surface soil, pull shallow weeds, and prepare garden beds with a wide-tooth carbon steel cultivator. Choose the 5-tooth head for more focused work or the wider 7-tooth version for covering a larger area with each pass.
Choose 5 or 7 teeth
- 5-tooth option: approximately 19.5 x 14 x 28 cm (7.68 x 5.51 x 11.02 in).
- 7-tooth option: approximately 27.7 x 14 x 28 cm (10.91 x 5.51 x 11.02 in).
Both options use a carbon steel working head. Select the 5-tooth size for tighter spaces and the 7-tooth size when you want a wider cultivating path.
Recommended garden tasks
- Break up crusted surface soil before planting.
- Loosen shallow weeds and small roots in established beds.
- Mix compost or amendments into the upper soil layer.
- Clear loose plant debris from vegetable beds and borders.
- Prepare raised beds and container growing areas between seasons.
How to use and maintain it
- Check the work area for irrigation lines, cables, stones, and other obstacles.
- Pull the tines through the upper soil layer using short, controlled strokes.
- Remove tangled roots and debris from the teeth as you work.
- Rinse off soil, dry the carbon steel completely, and store the tool under cover.
- Apply a light protective oil to exposed metal when storing for an extended period.
Important: carbon steel can corrode when left wet. This tool is intended for cultivating soil and shallow weed removal; do not use it as a pry bar or force it against large rocks.
Common questions
Which version is better for a raised bed?
The 5-tooth option is easier to position in smaller or densely planted beds. The 7-tooth option covers more open soil per pass.
Can it work in hard soil?
It can help loosen compacted surface soil. Water very dry ground lightly first and work in shallow passes instead of forcing the tines into hard or rocky soil.
How do I prevent rust?
Clean the head after use, dry it completely, store it away from rain, and apply a light protective oil when needed.
